"Then he said: 'The God of our ancestors has chosen you to know his will and to see the Righteous One and to hear words from his mouth. You will be his witness to all people of what you have seen and heard. And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name.' (Acts 22:14-16 NIV)
These verses sort of gave me a "RADICAL" chuckle... Your receive your reward as chosen, you get a set of instructions, you are a representative of God and Lord as witness/disciple and there is no time to waste! "What are you waiting for? Get up...." in others words - GO NOW & spread the gospel. But this is every Christians call, isn't it?!!! 3 verses, easy lesson.
This chapter also reminded me of the importance of
ReplyDeletesharing our testimonies. We may not all have the clear "blinded by the light" encounter but we are all called nonetheless to do gods bidding, and although it is not usually the same for each person we are all called to be his witnesses wherever we are i.e. School, work, mission field. Our paths to our conversions and even afterwards are not the same but we are all working toward the same goal in our own unique way with our own unique skills and talents in the place that God has us. (such as Dave and Mack's different skills helping them in their "survey gathering")
i am not totally sure of the entire context within this chapter since i am just starting tonight, but from what i can gather, Paul, formerly known as Saul to his Jewish comrades, is giving his testimony to the Jews. on account of that, he is arrested and taken before the Jewish leaders. i think it is so crazy that, one, Jesus revealed Himself to Paul and spoke to him audibly and two, that Paul immediately began spreading the Word, all the while knowing what was at risk for him. we have very little risk here in America, so what is holding us back? just a thought...
ReplyDeleteas for a verse, i liked that passage you jotted down Chaunce.
